Tips on dressing for success (in portraits)
Did I mention we’ve got a new web site? It’s true. The new Barlowpro.com features information about our company, lots of examples of our work, as well as things we hope will be useful to our clients–kind of like this blog aims to do.
To that end, one of the helpful tips we’ve put on our web site is our advice on “How to Dress for your Portrait Session.” We do an awful lot of business portraits (executive portraits, headshots, etc.) and most people also ask for some guidance in terms of attire. A good rule of thumb is to keep it simple, stupid. Dress in dark tones, avoid busy patterns, and make sure your clothes fit.
But if you’d like more detailed guidance, we’re happy to provide it. Visit the site and check it out.
And while you’re there, if you’re wondering about how you should dress for a video shoot, we’ve got advice on that too. It’s very similar, but there are a few peculiarities that make dressing for video different than dressing for a photo. (By the way, that guy whose face you see on the “Dressing for Video” page? That’s Patrick Barlow. A little bit of inside info in case you’re wondering who you’re dealing with here.)
Also, I should mention one more thing: once you’ve figured out what to wear, get in touch with us and schedule a shoot!
