Is this the future of photography? For that matter, is it the future of magazines and media in general? Will we soon carry a hybrid digital media device that combines our cell phone with our Kindle with our iPod with our laptop? Will every still photograph be expected to move? Will my clients begin to ask about video and stills on the same job?

I’m not sure. It certainly seems like there’s a clamor for photo/video convergence going on these days (if you didn’t yet click the link from the first sentence, do so now and watch the video) but I wonder how practical it is for widespread use these days. I’m sure some clients are looking to double dip, and this photographer is clearly ahead of the curve touting his capabilities and using a viral video as a commercial for his services. But in the grand scheme of things, should I expect every still photography client to demand video in the immediate future, and will video clients expect high-resolution stills from their shoots?
I’m not sure what the answer will be, but I know we’re ready. (Here comes the commercial.) At Barlow Productions, we’ve been doing stills for almost five decades, and video for three. We’re not new to this convergence stuff. We’ve been practicing for a long, long time. Give us a call. We’re ready.
